This is "Salhaus Royal Crown Jewel," aka "Juju," our classic 85 lb black/tan saddle back Dragon daughter. She's quite the tall girl with the perfect classic markings & correct short, double coat. She's got an easy going temperament & a regal look. But don't let that regal look fool you, she's my clown of the bunch! She has been xrayed at "fair." Juju is a grand daughter of our foundation bitch, Irish. She is now living on a ranch in Oregon as her new family's beloved pet & guardian.

In reviewing her pedigree, I recognized the name of her great grandfather, "Sir Bobie of Tasmania" from over 20 years ago. Bobie was a great uncle to our old "Irish," as well. He was one of the biggest (130+lbs), most mellow, easy going, blk/tan GSD's in our area. In his time, his pups were some of the most saught after due to his incredible size, looks & temperament. This is "D Bar J Salhaus Fromage De Meaux," aka "Brie." Brie is a 90 lb blk/silver, bi-black. She is from the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is known as the "cheese state," thus the name "Brie" (as in the cheese.) She is a wonderful dog, full of life & mischief. Brie is a very happy dog & just "begs to please." She was the most huge & loving, nurturing dog that we have ever had. She "raised" all of our young adults & got along with people & animals, alike. She would take on any orphaned puppy or kitten as her own. She has passed that incredible temperament & maternal instinct on to all girls related to her.
Her loyalty to me was unsurpassed. We are so glad to have her line carried on in our girls. Varuka has an OFA hip rating of "good."

This is "Black Magic's Sheba Salhaus," aka "Sheba." Sheba is a jewel of a dog. I have long admired
(and Irish!) in Sheba! Sheba has been retired & is currently in her permanent "pet" home, living as a pampered queen. Before her retirement, she has given us a wonderful litter of sables, blk/silver/tan & solid black pups, with outstanding size & tempermant. She has an OFA prelim of "good."
We are sorry to say that we lost Irish early in 2004. We miss her dearly, but have her wonderful temperament & great looks living on in her grand daughter Juju & her great grand daughter, Varuka.

PEARL
This is "Salhaus Dragon's Black Pearl" aka "Pearl." Pearl is a stunning solid black daughter out of Dragon & Brie. At 4 months she weighed a whopping 47 lbs. At the vet for her OFA prelim, at 7 months, she was a pleasing 70 lbs! Coming from 117 lb Dragon & 90 lb Brie, she has carried on the Salhaus oversized tradition, as shown by her adult weight of 93 lbs. Pearl is a happy girl & like her mother, just begs to please. She is already showing her protective, but obedient nature. Pearl is now living as a pampered pet with her new family.

FIONA
This is "Salhaus Sweet Irish Finesse" aka "Fiona." "Fi" is a heavy boned daughter out of an out-crossed, nice white male & our 118 lb Varuka. (To see Fiona's father, click "here.") "Fi" is a great, great grand daughter of our 136 lb Irish. She has her GG grandmother's name as keepsake. At the vet for her OFA prelim at 10 months, she weighed a pleasing 86 lbs! She has topped out at 92 lbs & has carried on the Salhaus oversized tradition. She has already produced fantastic litters for us with both of our boys. Fiona is a very easy going girl & like her mother, is very sweet. We are very proud of the way Fiona has turned out. She has an OFA rating of "good."

Meet "Salhaus A Penny Saved" aka "Penelope." Penelope is a daughter out of our own Varuka & Monty. Penelope is a great, great grand daughter of our 136 lb Irish as well as half sister to Fiona, above. With Monty's happy attitude on her father's side as well as his huge size & Varuka's incredibly calm & maternal de-meanor, along with her tremendous size, Penelope is a great blend of both of her parents. She is quiet & super sweet. She's a happy girl & wants to please. At 6 months, she weighed 72 lbs! Now as an adult at a 94 lbs, she has continued to pass on her great size in her pups. She loves people & does great with kids & other dogs. Penn Hip xrayed at .42/.56
This is "Salhaus Mustang Sally V Sprague" aka "Pony." Pony is a bi-black grand daughter (from Spragues GSD's) out of our very own Dragon. She is a great grand daughter of our 136 lb Irish as well as a great grand daughter of our first blue German Shepherd named Gracie from 10 years ago. Needless to say, Pony comes from lots of original Salhaus dogs from years back. I love looking in her eyes & knowing that so many of our old "friends" from years past are looking back at me. With the dark faced Shepherds, they sometimes have a more menacing look, but Pony is as happy as they come! She's got sweet, clownish ways about her. . .not a mean bone in her body, although she is a good watch dog, as she should be. She definitely lets us know when there's a stranger about. She's a happy girl & wants to please. At 8 months, she weighed 76 lbs! Now as an adult at 95 lbs, she has carried on the Salhaus oversized tradition by producing both male & female pups weighing up to & over 100 lbs! We are very pleased with the way Pony is turning out. She loves people & does great with kids & other dogs. Hips xrayed at good.
This is "Salhaus Piper of Black Magic" aka "Piper." She comes to us from Wendy & Lewie of East Coast Black Magic GSD's. Black Magic & Salhaus GSD's share very similar bloodlines & have the same breeding goals. Piper can be traced back to our original pair of Salhaus German Shepherds from over 20 years ago, to our very own 136 lb female, Irish & our original stud dog, Canaan. She also has heritage from the dogs at Ardtalamcu Shepherds in Scotland & from Spragues GSD's. We are proud to have Piper in our breeding program. She is full of life & curiosity. Not much escapes her notice. She's fun-loving & gentle. She definitely can be protective when the need be, but she's also very trustworthy & level-headed. She's got the classic Salhaus straight backed stance & the traditional muzzle & saddle-back markings. At 1-1/2 years she's 80 lbs & still growing, coming from a long line of oversized dogs. She has a good OFA rating.

WHISPER
This is "Salhaus Midnight Siren" aka "Whisper." She is a GORGEOUS female out of our own Monty & Pony. Her body type is definitely from her father, with a longer torso & a deep chest. But her coloring is from her mother, our very own Pony, all the way! She's a really content girl & is quite happy. She's a wonderful blend of her parents in terms of looks & temperament. At her last weighing at 1 year, she was a whopping 94 lbs! Some of her full sisters are over 101 lbs!! We know that Whisper will top the 100 lb mark as she gets older. We are very pleased with the way Whisper has turned out, being 7 generations down from our original pair of Salhaus dogs.She's been vet xrayed & has a strong OFA background.

BELLA
This is "Salhaus Silver Twilight" AKA Bella. She is one of our newer additions here at Salhaus. Bella is a daughter from our very own 130 lb mild stud dog Monty. Her mother is Fiona, our 96 lb girl who is 6 generations down from our original breeding pair. (Read about Fiona below & Bella's grandmother Varuka too.) Bella lives with our daughter & son in law, just a couple miles from our home & the rest of our dogs. Bella comes to visit weekly & loves to get to romp & play with the rest of the Salhaus dogs while she is here. She is full of life & is very loving, as well as protective & predictable, just as the rest of Salhaus dogs are. She's got the classic Salhaus straight backed stance & the traditional muzzle & saddle-back markings, while being a GORGEOUS black & silver! She's super tall & we expect her to fill out nicely with her weight eventually matching her height. At her last weighing close to 1 year old, she's a whopping 80 lbs & still growing! Since her dad is Monty, she will be bred to Diesel for her litters. They will produce blk/silver pups as well as whites! We are quite excited about their future pairings. She has a strong OFA background.
