This is "Salhaus Royal Crown Jewel," aka "Juju," our classic 85 lb black/tan saddle back Dragon daughter. She's quite the tall girl with the perfect classic markings & correct short, double coat. She's got an easy going temperament & a regal look. But don't let that regal look fool you, she's my clown of the bunch! She has been xrayed at "fair." Juju is a grand daughter of our foundation bitch, Irish. She is now living on a ranch in Oregon as her new family's beloved pet & guardian.

In reviewing her pedigree, I recognized the name of her great grandfather, "Sir Bobie of Tasmania" from over 20 years ago. Bobie was a great uncle to our old "Irish," as well. He was one of the biggest (130+lbs), most mellow, easy going, blk/tan GSD's in our area. In his time, his pups were some of the most saught after due to his incredible size, looks & temperament. This is "D Bar J Salhaus Fromage De Meaux," aka "Brie." Brie is a 90 lb blk/silver, bi-black. She is from the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is known as the "cheese state," thus the name "Brie" (as in the cheese.) She is a wonderful dog, full of life & mischief. Brie is a very happy dog & just "begs to please." She was the most huge & loving, nurturing dog that we have ever had. She "raised" all of our young adults & got along with people & animals, alike. She would take on any orphaned puppy or kitten as her own. She has passed that incredible temperament & maternal instinct on to all girls related to her.
Her loyalty to me was unsurpassed. We are so glad to have her line carried on in our girls. Varuka has an OFA hip rating of "good."

This is "Black Magic's Sheba Salhaus," aka "Sheba." Sheba is a jewel of a dog. I have long admired
(and Irish!) in Sheba! Sheba has been retired & is currently in her permanent "pet" home, living as a pampered queen. Before her retirement, she has given us a wonderful litter of sables, blk/silver/tan & solid black pups, with outstanding size & tempermant. She has an OFA prelim of "good."
We are sorry to say that we lost Irish early in 2004. We miss her dearly, but have her wonderful temperament & great looks living on in her grand daughter Juju & her great grand daughter, Varuka.

PEARL
This is "Salhaus Dragon's Black Pearl" aka "Pearl." Pearl is a stunning solid black daughter out of Dragon & Brie. At 4 months she weighed a whopping 47 lbs. At the vet for her OFA prelim, at 7 months, she was a pleasing 70 lbs! Coming from 117 lb Dragon & 90 lb Brie, she has carried on the Salhaus oversized tradition, as shown by her adult weight of 93 lbs. Pearl is a happy girl & like her mother, just begs to please. She is already showing her protective, but obedient nature. Pearl is now living as a pampered pet with her new family.

FIONA
This is "Salhaus Sweet Irish Finesse" aka "Fiona." "Fi" is a heavy boned daughter out of an out-crossed, nice white male & our 117 lb Varuka. (To see Fiona's father, click "here.") "Fi" is a great, great grand daughter of our 136 lb Irish. She has her GG grandmother's name as keepsake. At the vet for her OFA prelim at 10 months, she weighed a pleasing 86 lbs! With her whopping weight, we are sure she will carry on the Salhaus oversized tradition. She has already produced a fantastic litter for us with Monty. Fiona is a very easy going girl & like her mother, is very sweet. We are very proud of the way Fiona is turning out. She has an OFA rating of "good."

Penelope
Meet "Salhaus A Penny Saved" aka "Penelope." Penelope is a daughter out of our own Varuka & Monty. Penelope is a great, great grand daughter of our 136 lb Irish as well as half sister to Fiona, above. With Monty's happy attitude on her father's side as well as his huge size & Varuka's incredibly calm & maternal demeanor, along with her tremendous size, Penelope is a great blend of both of her parents. She is quiet & super sweet. She's a happy girl & wants to please. At 6 months, she weighed 72 lbs! Now as an adult at a 90 lb minimum, we are sure she will carry on the Salhaus oversized tradition. We are very pleased with the way Penelope is turning out. She loves people & does great with kids & other dogs. She has a strong OFA background. This is "Salhaus Mustang Sally V Sprague" aka "Pony." Pony is a bi-black grand daughter (from Spragues GSD's) out of our very own Dragon. She is a great grand daughter of our 136 lb Irish as well as a great grand daughter of our first blue German Shepherd named Gracie, from 10 years ago. Needless to say, Pony comes from lots of original Salhaus dogs from years back. I love looking in her eyes & knowing that so many of our old "friends" from years past are looking back at me. With the dark faced Shepherds, they sometimes have a more menacing look, but Pony is as happy as they come! She's got sweet, clownish ways about her. . .not a mean bone in her body, although she is a good watch dog, as she should be. She definitely lets us know when there's a stranger about. She's a happy girl & wants to please. At 8 months, she weighed 76 lbs! Now as an adult at an 80 lb minimum, we are sure she will carry on the Salhaus oversized tradition. We are very pleased with the way Pony is turning out. She loves people & does great with kids & other dogs. Earlier in the year with Fiona's litter, she had to be right in the middle of things. She has a very gentle demeanor & absolutely LOVED the pups, as you can see from the pictures below. We are sure she'll be a great mom when her turn comes. She has a strong OFA background.
